Gingerbread Fred and Gingerbread Freida
These two special characters visited the homes of all of our first graders during the month of December. Once Gingerbread Fred and Gingerbread Freida had visited every family, we assembled a scrapbook. The book contains all 17 journal pages written by each student telling about the visit with the gingerbread character. There are photos of each student with Fred or Freida. Each student is taking home the scrapbook to read and enjoy. |
Star Student
This special activity gives each child the chance to be in the spotlight for a day. As Star, the student brings things to share with the class. Pictures, favorite toys and games, favorite books, rock, cards, and sticker collections are just a few of the possibilities. The Star Student tells about their favorite things to do at home and at school. These responses are recorded on the 'All About Me Star Student' poster. These posters are on display in the classroom until the end of the school year. A family member is invited to be the Guest Reader and will read a favorite story to the class. |

Book Reports
Each month students are assigned book reports. Each time there is a different format. In October, students created a book visor to wear in class. The visor had a large picture of the favorite character from a book. In April, the students visited the principal's office. Each student read a book to Ms. Brewer.
